FAQs

what kinds of concerns can these sessions support?

These sessions are suitable for a wide range of physical, emotional, and energetic concerns, including:

  • Physical tension or pain (acute or chronic)

  • Postural imbalance or patterns of holding

  • Fatigue, burnout, or nervous system overwhelm

  • Emotional holding, grief, or anxiety

  • Energetic depletion, blockages, or stagnation

  • Feeling disconnected from the body

  • Support through life transitions, stress, or recovery

  • A desire to deepen self-awareness and embodiment

How do we connect energetically during an online session?

At Soma Hermetica, we use Google Meet for online sessions. While the video call supports connection, the deeper work occurs through energetic attunement.

As practitioners of Ortho-Bionomy® and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, we are trained to attune to your energetic field. This attunement is not limited by proximity—it’s established through intention, focus, and somatic awareness.

We can sense the body’s energetic patterns both by observing via video and by tuning in as if we were physically present. This relational energetic presence creates a space where your body’s intelligence can begin to reorganize and release.

What will I feel during a session?

Each session is unique, but most clients report physical sensations, even when receiving work remotely. These may include:

  • Warmth or coolness

  • Tingling or subtle pulsations

  • A sensation of energy moving

  • A letting go of tension

  • Deep relaxation or emotional release

Sensations are often felt in the area being worked with, or elsewhere in the body as the system responds. It can be a profound experience to feel the energy body in such a tangible way, even from a distance.

What is the structure of an online session?

  1. Arrival & Connection – A short check-in to explore what you’re bringing to the session

  2. Body Awareness – A guided body scan to deepen presence and awareness

  3. Energetic & Somatic Work – We respond to the concerns you bring and follow what arises in the body

  4. Chakra Balance & System Alignment – A subtle but powerful realignment of the body’s energetic flow

  5. Integration & Closing – A spacious ending to reflect, ground, and integrate what has shifted

How many sessions will I need?

The number and rhythm of sessions will depend on your intention, what you're currently experiencing, and what you’re hoping to explore or shift. Here’s a general guide:

  • For acute issues
We typically recommend 3–4 weekly sessions to support the body in resolving discomfort or injury. This is a common approach in Ortho-Bionomy®, often paired with prescribed self-care practices to help maintain and deepen the changes between sessions.

  • For long-held patterns
A series of sessions spaced weekly or fortnightly is usually most supportive. This allows the body time to release tension layer by layer, integrate shifts, and begin to unravel more embedded physical or emotional patterns. You’ll also receive Ortho-Bionomy-based self-care practices to continue supporting your process between sessions.

  • For deeper realignment and spiritual growth
We offer a more spacious and supported ongoing journey. This may include:
    • Releasing emotional and mental tensions
    • Facilitating gentle soul retrieval and reconnection
    • Unwinding the spine and aligning the central energy channel
    • Restoring chakra coherence and energy body flow
    • Awakening the spiritual heart
    • Preparing the ground for a safe and integrated kundalini awakening

This level of work unfolds gradually, and each step is guided by your body’s readiness. Whether you're seeking relief, restoration, or transformation, you're welcome to move at your own pace—and we’re here to walk beside you.

Do I need to believe in energy work for it to help?

Not at all. The body responds to what it recognizes as supportive, whether or not the mind has a framework for it. Many clients who are new to this kind of work find themselves surprised by the tangible shifts they feel—regardless of belief.

Throughout the session, we can gently guide you through the areas we’re working with, which often heightens your awareness of the sensations and subtle changes occurring in your body.

From a somatic perspective, the nervous system naturally registers comfort, ease, and release. When met with safety and presence, it begins to shift out of protective patterns and reorganize into a more balanced state. You don’t need to believe in any specific concept—simply showing up with curiosity is more than enough.

Is there an intake form to fill out before the session?

Yes. At the time of booking, you’ll be asked to complete a short online intake form. This allows us to gain insight into your current concerns, relevant health history, and any background that may help inform the session.

The intake form helps us arrive with a clearer understanding of your system’s needs and gives us the opportunity to formulate a general session flow in advance—while still remaining open to what arises in the moment.

Your information is held in confidence and is used solely to support your session with care, presence, and precision.

What if I don’t know what I need?

That’s completely okay. You don’t need to have clarity, a specific intention, or even the words to describe what’s going on.

These sessions are designed to meet you exactly where you are. Often, just showing up with openness is enough—the body and energy field naturally guide the session toward what is ready to be seen, felt, or released.

If you’re unsure, we can also begin with a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy-inspired intention, such as gently unravelling the spine and allowing the central channel to realign. This creates space for the entire system—physical, emotional, and energetic—to settle, reorganize, and reconnect with ease.

Whatever arises, we move at your pace and follow the innate intelligence of your body.

How do I book a session?

All sessions are booked through our online booking system, where you can choose the type and duration of your session. Once booked, you’ll receive an confirmation email with a Google Meet link for your session, along with key information to help you prepare.

A 20% deposit is taken at the time of booking to secure your appointment. The remaining balance is paid after the session is complete, with payment details provided at that time.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, you can do so via your confirmation email—up to 24 hours in advance. Cancellations or rescheduling made after this window will result in the deposit being forfeited, as a way to honour the time and space set aside for you.

What video conferencing program do you use?

All online sessions are conducted via Google Meet. Once you book your session, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your unique Google Meet link.

Google Meet is easy to use, secure, and doesn’t require a download on most devices. You can join the session from a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
If you’ve never used Google Meet before, we recommend testing your camera, microphone, and internet connection a few minutes before the session to ensure everything runs smoothly.

If you have any issues connecting, feel free to reach out prior to your appointment time.

What happens if I fall asleep during the session?

It’s not uncommon to enter a deeply relaxed or sleep-like state during a session—especially as the body shifts into parasympathetic rest.

We can discuss this at the beginning of your session. If you fall asleep, I’ll gently try to wake you during the session. If that’s not possible, I will continue the work quietly, as the body can still respond and integrate the session while resting.

If you’re still asleep at the end of our time together, and we haven’t agreed otherwise, I will call you on your phone to gently bring you back.

What happens after a session?

You may feel deeply relaxed, emotionally open, or subtly energized after a session. Each body responds in its own way—sometimes with an immediate sense of lightness or release, other times with more subtle shifts unfolding over time.

To help ground and return to center, we guide a brief somatic technique at the end of the session:

  • Stand and explore where your balance feels most natural—leaning gently left, then right

  • Follow your preferred side for a few moments

  • Then explore forward and back, and rotating left and right

  • Finally, gently press down through the feet, sensing your connection to the ground

This helps settle the nervous system and allows the body’s energetic changes to anchor more fully.

After your session, we advise having some water and something nourishing to eat. This supports grounding and integration.
We also recommend giving yourself some quiet time—whether resting, journaling, walking in nature, or simply noticing what arises.

Shifts may continue for a few days following the session, as your system processes and rebalances.

Are sessions suitable during pregnancy, chronic illness, or after surgery?

Yes. These sessions are gentle, adaptable, and supportive during pregnancy, in cases of chronic illness, and in post-surgical recovery. The work respects the body’s natural rhythms and prioritizes safety, comfort, and deep listening.

  • During pregnancy, we avoid direct contact with the abdomen and instead focus on supporting the spine, pelvis, and nervous system to create space, ease, and regulation throughout the body.

  • With chronic illness, we typically work around the affected areas, rather than directly on them—offering support without overstimulating vulnerable systems.

  • After surgery, we also begin by working around the affected area to support systemic integration. Once the wound has fully healed, we can begin working more directly with the area and any associated scar tissue, helping the body release holding patterns and restore flow.

If you’re currently pregnant, recovering, or managing a chronic condition, please advise us beforehand so we can tailor the session to meet your needs with care and sensitivity.

Can these sessions replace medical or mental health treatment?

While Soma Hermetica sessions can offer profound support for physical, emotional, and energetic wellbeing, they are not a substitute for medical or psychological care.

These sessions are complementary in nature—working alongside conventional or allied health approaches by supporting the body’s ability to reorganize, regulate, and reconnect with its natural intelligence.

If you are currently experiencing a medical condition or mental health crisis, we encourage you to seek support from a qualified healthcare provider. While we may explore the emotional or energetic undercurrents of what you’re experiencing, diagnosis and clinical treatment are beyond the scope of this work.

That said, many clients find these sessions an invaluable part of their wider healing journey—offering insight, relief, and a deeper sense of inner connection.
